About the Role

The successful candidate will be based at headquarters here in Grenoble. The main aim of the role will be ensuring equipment is correctly tested and documented, then going to the customers site to perform installation and user training. With clients world-wide there is requirement for international travel to the USA, Europe and Asia in support and installation of client equipment.

Application Engineers are also responsible for handling customer support and after-sales care, this can include; recreating bugs or errors in the software and reporting to the software team, diagnosing hardware issues, helping to optimise a process or offering expert advice on best use practices.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment test and tool qualification
  • Aiding in the installation and acceptance process of equipment
  • Providing quality on-site support, repair, planned maintenance and service of complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Troubleshooting; electrical, mechanical and software problems remotely or on-site
  • Root cause analysis down to the component level
  • Reproduce bug or errors on in house equipment and software test
  • Software test and aiding software team in developments and improvements
  • Customer training and applications / process support
  • Generating and maintaining strong relationship with customers with an aim to future business generation
  • Good record keeping of works and tested carried out
  • May perform other related duties as requested by management

Candidate Profile

The applicant must be self-motivated and work well autonomously. A zero defect mindset, and a desire to provide the highest level of service to the customer is important. Be able to work well with the team and have a professional but light hearted approach. Good problem solving and critical analysis is essential, being able to follow a problem through from occurrence to resolution. Must be cool under pressure and natural infront of client during on-site work.

Technical Skills:

  • Master Degree or above in; Electronics, Physics, Automation or other science/engineering related field
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in; installation, test, process or applications supporting advanced equipment in science, research or industry
  • Trouble shooting / problem solving; electrical wiring faults, process and software issues
  • Knowledge of electrical testing and or wafer level test methods is a bonus
  • Experience of working in the semiconductor industry is a bonus but not required
  • Knowledge of MRAM and memory device testing is a bonus but not required

Soft Skills:

  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Independent and self-motivated
  • Ability to develop strong and lasting client relationships
